Our Eggs

From 100% pasture-raised hens.

We are immensely proud of our system for raising chickens on pasture to produce the richest, best-tasting, most satisfying eggs around. Nine years of experience keeping poultry has helped us hone our methods to keep our flock healthy, happy, and safe.

We raise a wide variety of heritage-breed chickens for eggs, providing us with a rainbow of different egg colors. We do not raise meat birds. Our chickens live in mobile coops on pasture for their entire adult lives, and have access to a high tunnel during the depths of winter for extra shelter and warmth. We move the entire flock every few days to ensure their manure is spread evenly across the farm and they have a fresh area to forage for greens, seeds, and bugs.

We designed our system to allow our chickens to exhibit their natural instincts. This keeps them healthy and minimizes stress. Our flock has ample room to move around and forage, dustbathe, sunbathe, and maintain flock dynamics. Occasionally, a broody mother hen will even raise her own chicks.

Our two guardian animal alpacas, Mike and Al, live with the flock and help keep away predators.

Our Practices:

  • locally sourced free-choice feed and fresh water provided daily

  • secure moveable coops for safe roosting and nesting

  • electric fencing keeps out predators

  • automatic doors let hens out at first light and close at dusk to maximize pasture time

  • coops have wire mesh floors so manure falls to the ground, keeping coops cleaner

  • coops have ample, comfortable nest boxes

  • guardian animals as an added layer of security

  • separate infirmary for hens who need extra care

  • shade cloth provided in summer

  • access to high tunnel during winter for extra shelter

  • local food waste as treats for hens

  • heritage breeds for variety of bloodlines and flock resiliency
