Our Vision

Stewarding the Earth, nourishing our communities

Farming presents a unique opportunity to participate in tangible, measurable, long-term change for good.

Our initial inspiration to explore farming came from our educational background in Environmental Science and Policy. We wanted to find a way to build our careers on combating climate change. We now understand that responsible soil conservation and animal husbandry practices contribute actively to reversing climate change by storing carbon long term.

We practice regenerative agriculture, which is an ever-changing toolbox of practices aimed at increasing soil fertility, structure, and biodiversity, while increasing food production and nutrition in a localized economy.

Our decision to have a diverse farm encompassing vegetables, fruits, herbs, and livestock is born from the diverse needs of stewarding a healthy farm environment and surrounding area, as well as raising a variety of nutritious foods. The human diet must include sufficient macro- and micronutrients, and the choices of our products reflect that. Additionally, the interplay between the vegetal and animal spheres on the farm is complementary; healthy animals contribute manure to our produce fields and the fields help feed the animals.

Within this framework, we also see farming as a venue for empowering people to participate more actively in a healthy local food system. This means employing people from our community; inviting volunteers to learn and get their hands dirty; and having nutrient-dense, culturally appropriate foods easily available to community members.

We believe in transparency in the food system. Everyone deserves good food to eat and to know how it was raised. Knowledge is power. We can collectively change our world together by increasing knowledge, participation, and access around good food. Our mission is to raise food the best way we know how, and to include our community in growing and eating this good food!

We want our small farm to be a part of a societal shift towards more equality, knowledge-sharing, respect for each other, and exuberant stewardship of our world.

This might seem like a lot of big concepts to juggle at once, but itโ€™s what keeps us excited, motivated and engaged to keep exploring new ideas.

There is so much potential to contribute to solving Earthโ€™s big problems through farming, and we are committed to doing our part on the postage stamp of land that we are privileged to be stewards of.
